A few steps of the City of Lamu, The Red Pepper House opens its doors to show us the best of the Swahili culture.
While we get lost in the sounds of Africa, its mosques, the perfume of the spices and the majestic dhows, we sail and we get carried away by the breeze of the evening and we find, among a paradise beach and a primary forest.
Architecture is considered as one of the most beautiful in Africa, with 5 Nyumbas (houses) all with sea views. Integrated perfectly into its environment, The Red Pepper House is covered by a huge makuti roof that rises and falls with natural forms.
In its construction involved the best artists and fundis (artisans), the heirs of the techniques of their ancestors. The decoration and the furniture they mix the style of life in swahili and the colonial houses of the palace of Lamu, that will transport you to the past, accompanied by works of african art, and ancient artifacts from different countries of the world.
Most of the rooms of the house does not have walls, so you can enjoy the tropical climate with views of the beach and the forest.

The Nyumbas
The Red Pepper House offers only 5 Nyumbas (houses) with the essence and luxury swahili, in a natural environment with views of the sea and the forest, to be able to relax and enjoy with the 5 senses.
Designed to be bright and fresh, each Nyumba is composed of 5 areas:
– Bedroom and bathroom clad in the traditional Nyeru with a large shower. All the spaces of sleep continue to the architecture of traditional luxury whose size is given by the wooden beams to adorn your ceiling with a large bed or two single beds of different styles: Tundabel, Pili Pili or Indian Pili Pili and mosquito net to enjoy the sea breeze.
– Area to be covered under the makuti
– A veranda under the sky and stars.
– Boma private with sand and vegetation and shower african outdoor, to be able to relax, sunbathe or dine in the light of candles and oil lamps Kerosene.
The Nyumba Acacia is a large suite with more space in which, in addition to:
– Area to be closed.
– Large full bath outdoors under the sky, and a large acacia tree.
Each guest is given a kikoy and flip-flops to be able to enjoy the experience from the first moment, in addition to each nyumba facilities: safety deposit box, hairdryer, towels, bathrobe.

Every corner of the hotel hides a special magic. There are many sites where you can relax, eat, or drink, watching the sunset and enjoying your peace of mind and your light or under the stars and the moon of Lamu are unforgettable moments.
For the dining room, located in the shadow of the Makuti, have been brought from different countries of Europe, tableware, glassware, cutlery and tableware, to evoke the delicacy of the colonial era.
The living areas are spectacular and very attractive, allowing us to enjoy several different ways: seeing nature in all parts of the "circle", reading a book in the library, chatting, watching the dhows sailing or watching the magical sunset from the pier.
POOL BEACH
The swimming pool is clad in the traditional Ñeru. You can enjoy a refreshing swim seeing the forest, along with his wonderful sound or relax while you take a drink and snacks.
Meals
The Red Pepper House offers a journey of flavours, from the traditional food swahili up to the mediterranean.
Cook according to cooking light and healthy and with the best ingredients. Organic food vegetables, fish and seafood and barbecues, all accompanied by delicious wines and drinks.
You put in the time, you're in your home
Breakfast: In the Nyumba or in the dining area, served by the wonderful fruit of the area, delicious fresh juices, and a collection of specialties swahili, all this accompanied with a great coffee arabica freshly ground and a range of wonderful teas.
Lunch: you Can try creams, samosas, pasta, pizzas, salads, fish, ice cream and cakes, as well as special dishes cooked by the time the taste of each client.
Dinner: Our delicious food can be enjoyed in a casual atmosphere, or, in the Boma deprived of your Nyumba, around the pool, to the sea shore, or where you prefer. To complete the culinary experience, we offer a style bbq swahili. (The dinner on the beach, the forest, and on the beach are always available, and when the weather permits).
Our team is very flexible and we can bring the demands of our clients to any place.
Bar
The bar offers a spectacular space in the "circle", the "Pili Pili" (beds swahili) and the sun loungers colonial times to enjoy the view of the sea and the forest to the back of an excursion or at any time of the day. The bar becomes the perfect place to refresh yourself with natural juices, tropical and all kinds of drinks.
A drink at sunset: 5:30 p.m. the pier, the beach or dune is become sites magical to watch the sunset in african with beautiful reflection in the water listening to the sounds of Africa. You can enjoy it with wine, champagne or gin and tonic, whisky, rum, fruit juices, soft drinks and snacks.
The forest and the Beach
Called "the Forest of the tree of red pepper", form part of a barrier forest that was impenetrable Africa from the sea. The famous Richard Burton, and Speak, in their search for the sources of the Nile and the Mountains of the Moon, came to the african continent from Lamu, where they were guided to the inside to live out their dangerous experiences.
This wonderful primary forest inhabit a great variety of trees and birds to care for, and protect the inside of your freedom and natural life in which we can see, monarch of paradise, in extinición and bred in the forest, marabus and tántalos indians of the family of storks, sea eagles and other species, and eagles and kites, herons, egrets, blue and real, ibis, sacred, abejarrucos green and crimson, kingfishers, malaquitas, weavers, francolins neck yellow, hummingbirds, owls, nightjars, shrikes of forest, woodpeckers, colís or bird, mouse, drogones, lapwings and plovers, spatulas, bargains, glue needle, pawls, starlings, kites and many more, forming with his singing a wonderful tune through trees and red pepper, acacia, neem, or casuarinas/pine-australian, and mangroves on the beach, as well as various species of palm and coconut trees.
Behind the forest, stood a "shamba" (finca) with numerous fruit trees such as mangoes, coconut, cashews, cunasi and hearts of palm.
On the beach we can see crabs of all sizes, hermit crabs or turtles in the spawning season, with the mangrove full of oysters and many shells.
